A Plainville woman threatened her fiance with a sword, then choked him until he nearly passed out, police said.

The incident involving Sabrena Pleasant happened Friday at the couple's home on East Street just after 4 a.m., police said.

The couple got into an argument, she took a ceremonial sword from a wall and pointed it at her boyfriend's stomach, police said. He wrestled it away from her, but she began choking him to the point where he almost fell unconscious, police said.

Pleasant was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. Police arrested her Monday after being released.

She's charged with strangulation, threatening, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
