Driver Killed in I-95 Westport Rollover Crash

A driver was killed after his car struck another vehicle on Interstate 95 north in Westport and then flipped over a couple times.

Alan J. Alexis, 22, was driving fast in a Nissan Xtera in the rightmost lane of three when he swerved to avoid an Infiniti G37X in front of him at about 2:32 a.m. on Sunday, hitting the back left side of the vehicle driven by Dekera E. Lewis, 23, of Norwalk. Then Alexis veered right, causing the car to roll over twice and land in the left and center lanes.

He was thrown from the car, landing in the center lane. Westport EMS rushed him to Norwalk Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, but doctors later pronounced him dead.

Another car hit the Nissan Alexis was driving and kept going, but state police said that wasn't a factor in his death.

Alexis wasn't wearing a seatbelt during the crash, state police said. The car Alexis was driving was registered to Juliette Dominique and it was towed.

Lewis and her two passengers Lacorrah Dlayne, 23, and Ashley Lyons, 23, both of Bridgeport, were unscathed in the accident and were all wearing seatbelts, according to state police. That car was owned by Charles D. Lyons, who is related to passenger Ashley Lyons.

No charges have been filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
