An employee of Colt's Manufacturing in West Hartford was shot when a gun malfunctioned during testing at the company on Thursday morning.

The employee of the 175-year-old gun-making company shot himself in the hand as he was testing a gun, police said. He was taken to the hospital.

The company's West Hartford facility is just miles from Samuel Colt's original armory in Hartford.
