Air Quality Concerns at East Hampton Factory Fire

Chemicals stored in factory lead to concerns

Fire officials are urging residents who live near the Bevin Bell factory in East Hampton to remain indoors.

Environmental officials have a long list of chemicals known to be in the building and those could have been released into the air.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is on-scene conducting tests to determine whether there are any hazards in the air.

Fire and environmental crews remain at the scene of the fire and continue to assess the situation.
