All Aboard, Metro North Taking Plastic Again

Metro North riders can once again put the cash away.

A glitch Friday meant ticket machines at all stations, other than Grand Central Terminal, were not able to accept credit or debit cards, forcing passengers to use cash only for payment. The glitch has been fixed, according to Metro North.

The problem couldn't have come at a worse time, as thousands boarded trains Friday to head into New York City for the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square.

Most found a way around the issue by paying cash, but some were stuck looking for an ATM to get the money to buy tickets.

Everything was back to normal early Saturday. The one change for riders: Metro North was running a Sunday schedule on Saturday. The commuter railroad will run the Sunday schedule as normal on Sunday as well.
