Ansonia Police Locate Suspect Vehicle in Hit-and-Run Crash

Ansonia police said they have located a suspect vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on Wakelee Avenue Wednesday morning.

Police said they responded around 7:35 a.m. to reports of a person struck by a car on Wakelee Avenue near Jackson Street. When they arrived they found a female victim with a head injury complaining of pain to her hip. She was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She has not been publicly identified.

The victim told people she had just exited her parked car when she was hit by an unknown vehicle. Witnesses reported the vehicle was a small dark-colored SUV.

Police said surveillance systems from nearby businesses captured images of the suspect vehicle and released the photos Wednesday afternoon. Early Wednesday evening they confirmed they located the suspect vehicle.

The case remains under investigation.
