Armed Robbers Strike at Hotels

Police in Milford and West Haven are looking at similarities in robberies.

Milford police have reached out to hotels and motels in town after one armed robbery at a hotel and an attempted armed robbery two days later at another hotel.

A man with a knife stole cash from the register at Red Roof Inn, located at 10 Rowe Ave., at 7:19 p.m. on Saturday.

At 10:15 p.m. on Monday, a man with a knife went into Milford Lodge, at 278 Old Gate Lane, demanded money from the employee and fled the scene after failing to climb over the counter, police said.

The man in both incidents is 5-feet-8-inches tall to 5-feet-10-inches-tall, 30 to 40 years old, with a thin build and a goatee with a distinguished white mark.

The incidents are similar to a robbery at a Hampton Inn in West Haven Feb. 5.

"We're comparing similarities.  Investigators from both departments are trading off information to see if therer are similarities in the investigations and we'll move from there," Officer Jeffrey Nelson said.

No one was injured in any of the incidents.
