Meriden police have arrested a woman accused of shooting and killing a Meriden man in the home they once shared.

Melissa Ziemba, 42, was taken into custody on Wednesday at 207 Crystal Lake Road in Middletown, her current home.

She is accused of shooting and killing Richard West, 49, who was found dead on the first floor in a multi-family house at 76 Olive St. on Feb. 3.

He had a gunshot wound to the chest and was unresponsive. Officials pronounced West dead at the scene and the medical examiner determined his death was a homicide.

They obtained a warrant on Wednesday charging Ziemba with murder and criminal use of a firearm.

She was arraigned on Thursdau and is being held on $750,000 bond. Her case has been moved to Part A in New Haven and continued to Sept. 11.
