The president of the University of Hartford’s student government made a quick appearance in court on Thursday over allegations that he vandalized a building and fought with a police officer.
Grant Engrav, 21 of Lake Oswego, Oregon is accused of going on a rampage on two college campuses.
West Hartford police say that on Aug. 29, the University of Hartford senior fought two officers and a police dog after breaking windows at the St. Joseph College chapel and the bookstore at the University of Connecticut’s West Hartford campus.
A police dog bit two officers during a struggle between Engrav and the officers. That dog was treated for cuts on her snout.
Engrav is facing assault, burglary, animal cruelty and other crimes. Engrav declined to comment. His lawyer, Walter Hampton, says Engrav has an exemplary record and any misconduct would be an aberration.
His case was continued until Oct. 7. He is out on bail.
