Assault Suspect Arrested After Seeking Treatment For Flu

A man was arrested after hospital staff learned there was a warrant for his arrest.

South Windsor Police have arrested one of the men responsible for a violent assault and robbery that left two men in hospital one week ago.

A warrant was issued for Nathaniel Chambers, of Meriden, on Jan. 10. Chambers was taken into custody  after seeking treatment for the flu at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven.

Hospital staff learned of a warrant for Chambers' arrest and held him until he was healthy enough to be released into the custody of South Windsor Police.

Chambers is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree and conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree. He is being held on $250,000 bond and due in Manchester court on Jan. 16.

On Tuesday, Jan. 8 police responded to 51 Edwin St. to a report of two men being assaulted at a local business. There they found two men suffering from serious head and face wounds.

The victims, Robert Lareau, 28 of Enfield, and Ryan Kelleher, 21 of Windsor, were both taken to Hartford Hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time though  Lareau was in the intensive care unit immediately after the incident.
