A judge sentenced a former Granby police captain to 10 years in prison on child porn charges Friday.
David Bourque amassed a huge collection of child pornography, according to federal prosecutors.
Borque's attorney said his client was sexually molested as a child and suffered post-traumatic stress disorder from responding to numerous gruesome accidents over the years.
Attorney Richard Brown said in court papers on Wednesday that an evaluation by a psychologist concluded that David Bourque suffered PTSD, which affected his judgment. He said it did not excuse his conduct but asked the judge to use the evaluation to determine an appropriate sentence.
Prosecutors said Bourque was caught with more than 26,000 images and videos of child pornography on his computers that showed the sexual abuse of young boys, including infants and toddlers.
Bourque pleaded guilty last year to receiving and distributing child pornography.
