Stolen Baby Jesus Found

The statue has been returned the church creche from where it was stolen.

The Nativity scene in front of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Cromwell has been made whole once again.

Someone stole the figure from the creche sometime Monday night. A parishoner noticed the missing Jesus early Tuesday morning.

But police received a tip that led them to River Road Thursday afternoon.  There they found a shoebox containing the statue of the Baby Jesus, according to the St. John's pastor, Rev. Mark Curesky.

Nothing else was had been stolen from the creche, including money that had been left as a donation.

The statue had been slightly damaged, but the Baby Jesus was returned to the creche in front of St. John's, where it will stay until Jan. 8.
