Stratford authorities have shut the gate for the rest of this week at Long Beach Park and dump trucks hauled loads of sand away on Wednesday.

The storm that ravaged Fairfield County on March 13 dumped so much sand on a popular beach parking lot that it's still closed.

Stratford authorities have shut the gate for the rest of this week at Long Beach Park and dump trucks hauled loads of sand away on Wednesday.

The gate is to remain closed until Saturday at the Fairfield County barrier beach, which ia a mile and a half long.

"I just thought I'd go out and take a look at the beach," said Gil Walker, who had to turn around. "Sometimes they have both gates locked, some times they have one gate open and one gate closed, You just never know," he said.
