A Middletown man was charged with violating a protective order after drinking beer with his wife, at her request, police said.

A court order requires Jorge Cuascut, 45, to stay away from his wife, but she made a deal with him from them to meet for two beers at McGillicuddy's bar in Unionville, the woman told Farmington police. After the two beers, he would leave, according to the report.

While at the bar, Cuascut drank no alcohol, police said.

After his wife drank two beers, Cuascut wanted her to leave, like they agreed, but someone bought another round and she wanted to stay, police said.

Cuascut left for work but the woman stayed, police said. She called police at 8:46 p.m. on Sunday to report the court order violation, police said.

Cuascut was charged with criminal violation of a protective order and bond was set at $10,000. He is due in court on Monday.
