Bicyclist Injured in South Windsor Crash

Donald Decapua, 60, of South Windsor, was hurt.

A 60-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition at Hartford Hospital after colliding with a car on Sullivan Avenue and Oakland Road in South Windsor.

The crash happened at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday and police said the bicyclist, Donald Decapua, 60, of South Windsor, was at fault.

They issued a news release saying the driver, Barbara Dworak, 81, of South Windsor, had a green light and Decapua pulled out in front of her.

Pete DiPietro, of Bicycle South Windsor, said he knows Decapua and he's a safe rider who knows the area well.

Decapua was in his shop last week. He bought a bright yellow jacket to replace one that had been stolen so that drivers would see him.

Decapua's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No charges have been filed. Police ask anyone with information to call 860-644-2551.
