A 53-year-old man riding a bike was killed when he hit the back of a tractor-trailer on Oak Avenue in Torrington on Thursday afternoon.
Police said Darryl Weaver was riding his bike on a sidewalk, but went off the sidewalk, into the street and hit the back of a moving tractor-trailer just after 3 p.m. at East Albert Street and Oak Avenue.
Weaver was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, where he later died.
East Albert Street was closed from Harwinton Avenue to South Main Street and Oak Avenue was closed from Franklin Street to Raiano Street while the Accident Investigation Team inspected the tractor trailer and investigated the crash.
