Bloomfield Home Damaged by Fire

At least three people are displaced after a house fire in Bloomfield Sunday evening.

Blue Hills Fire Department Chief Robert Farmer says firefighters responded around 6:23 p.m. to a report of a back porch fire at 8 Parents Way. Upon arrival they found fire on the 2nd floor of a two story home inside a chimney casing which spread into the attic.

“We had extensive fire on arrival and for the amount of fire we had on arrival,” Farmer said. “They did a heck of a job knocking down that fire and saving the rest of the structure.”

Farmer said three people were at home at the time but everyone made it out safely. No injuries were reported.

The home sustained extensive damage to the roof and second floor and is currently uninhabitable, according to fire officials.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
