One Killed in Guilford Boat Crash

Rescue crews searched the Long Island Sound after a boat crash in Guilford.

One man is dead and three other people were hurt when their boat ran into a rock wall in Guilford Thursday night.

Three men and one woman, all in their 20s and from the Guilford area, were tossed from the 18-foot open motorboat when it crashed into a wall on the shore in the area of 49 Old Quarry Road just after 9:30 p.m., according to the state Department of Environmental Protection.

One victim was able to reach the shore and run to a house for help and rescue crews spent hours Thursday night and into Friday morning searching Long Island Sound.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, another man is in critical condition and the two others have non-life-threatening injuries, according to the DEP.

Officials have not yet released the names because they are notifying family.
