Police have found a body inside a burning car in a Hartford residential neighborhood.
Police received a call at 12:53 a.m. reporting gunshots, but when they arrived at Cornwall and Pembroke streets, they found an even more grisly scene.
They found a Mazda 6 in flames and called the Hartford Fire Department to extinguish the car.
Once the fire was out, officials learned that there was a body inside, police said.
The car has New Jersey plates and whether the victim is male or female is not known. Police have not yet found gun casings and they are interviewing neighbors, who say they definitely heard gunshots.
Neighbors said they saw several men in the area of the car shortly after the fire started. Who the man are, where they are and whether they are involved is unclear.
The medical examiner was at the scene and Hartford Major Crimes is investigating.
