Southington Police are investigating after discovering a badly decomposed body behind a Southington plaza.

Case workers from the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services were looking for a homeless person who was known to live in the woods when they found the body around 10:30 a.m. on Monday in the woods behind the Price Chopper on Queen Street.

On Tuesday, police released the person's name. He is Craig Snyder, 58, of Burlington. The cause of death is still under investigation.

A blue Isuzu truck was roped off with police tape in the Price Chopper parking lot and employees said the truck had been parked there for at least two weeks.

Police said the body is so badly decomposed they do not yet know the age or gender of the victim.

Members of the State Police Major Crimes Division and the State's Attorney's Office are assisting in the investigation.
