Mom Found in Burlington Pond Was Strangled

The death of a 26-year-old Litchfield mother of two who was found in a pond in Burlington pond last week has been ruled a homicide.

The body of Kelsey Mazzamaro was found late Sunday morning in a body of water near Upson Road, according to police. The medical examiner ruled that she had been strangled and the cause of death was "neck compression."

A friend of Mazzamaro said she was the mother of two young children.

The death remains under investigation and no arrests have been announced but police previously said there is no threat to the community. State police are appealing to the public and ask anyone with information to call 860-626-7900 or text TIP711 with information to 274637.
