An 18-year-old student is facing charges after calling in a bomb threat to Hamden High School on Friday morning, prompting a two-hour evacuation of the school, according to police.
Police said Dyshawn Silva, 18, of Hamden, placed the threatening call around 8:30 a.m. Friday from a second-floor bathroom at the high school.
"There's a bomb at Hamden High School," he allegedly told police.
Students were evacuated to the nearby Louis Astorino Ice Arena for about two hours while authorities responded and searched the property.
Investigators found a piece of the cellphone used to place the call in the second-floor bathroom. They traced the phone back to Silva with the help of Hamden High School Security, according to police.
Authorities did not find any explosives, and students were allowed back in the building after about two hours, police said.
About three hours later, the Whitney High North school on Skiff Street in Hamden also received a bomb threat, according to police. No threat was found and students went back inside after a half-hour evacuation.

It's not clear if Silva is also tied to the second threat.
He has been charged with first-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace and falsely reporting an incident in connection with the threat at Hamden High. Silva is being held on $5,000 bond at Hamden Police Headquarters.
