The owner of the Austin House, a boarding home for troubled women in Waterbury, is about to lose the property to back taxes, but a bounced check could work in her favor.
Dan Telesco, a,Sandy Hook developer who tried to buy the house at 437 Willow St. at a tax auction this fall, bounced the check, the Republican-American reports.
Telesco's bounced check has stalled the tax sale of Austin House, for the time being anyway.
So, Camera Quebec -- who owns the Austin House -- has more time to raise money to pay off the tax debt that she owes the city, which has climbed to about $18,000, the paper reports.
