Bradley Airport Packed With Travelers Despite Worldwide Travel Warning Amid Terrorist Threats

Bradley Airport remained busy Monday night with travelers ready to visit family during the Thanksgiving weekend, but a worldwide travel warning from the U.S. State Department about remaining extra vigilant in light of terrorist threats weighed on people's minds.

"It worries everybody, but if you're confident and you have faith, what else can you do? Whatever is going to happen is going to happen," Hartford resident Wanda Valle said.

On Monday, a worldwide travel alert went out for those abroad or planning to be in the next few months due to increased terrorist threats.

"I guess there's always a concern, but there's certain things I cannot control. There's always risk, but not much has changed for me," Hartford resident Maxuel Cruz said.

Cruz and his wife plan to enjoy Thanksgiving in San Juan and said they feel Puerto Rico is low on the list for terrorists but that they may avoid traveling elsewhere for the time being.

"Somewhere in Europe or the Middle East, maybe I'll think twice," said Cruz.

The State Department suggests US citizens who are abroad follow the instructions of local authorities, prepare for additional security screening, stay in touch with family members, and register your trip in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, which sends your trip plans to the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

"The effort that the government's doing to keep everyone safe, it's pretty good," said Valle.

Valle says she won't let threats from terrorists prevent her from enjoying the holidays.

"You can't let anything stop you, got to keep going forward and show them who is strong," said Valle.
