Branford Man Accused of Killing Pit Bull

A Madison resident called police on March 11 after finding a dead pit bull-boxer in a plastic bag by a lake.

A 22-year-old Branford man has been arrested, accused of killing his dog after it urinated on his leg and bit him.

A Madison resident called police on March 11 after finding a dead pit bull-boxer in a plastic bag by a lake.

A microchip was found during the necropsy and led investigators to the dog’s owner, Alex Wullaert, police said.

Police said the dog died in January and Wullaert confessed to choking his pet at his Branford home after it urinated on this leg and bit him.

Once the animal was dead, Wullaert placed it in a plastic bag and discarded it in Madison.

Wullaert was charged with cruelty to animals and littering.

He was released on a written promise to appear in court in New Haven on May 15.
