If you’re looking for a great looking guy and have not found one, it’s probably because you have not been looking in the hotbed of hotness – Bridgeport.
Yes – that Bridgeport .
So say the editors at TotalBeauty.com. It’s ranked sixth, above even Los Angeles, which was ranked tenth!
The editors turned to "The Evolution of Desire: Strategies of Human Mating” to see what women really find attractive and set out to find cities with the men who could meet women’s expectations.
Everyone knows that love, mutual attraction, personality and emotional stability are key. You cannot, however prove that, especially when you are conducting your study from Santa Monica, California, home of TotalBeauty.
So, this comes down to qualities you can better quantify: intelligence, good health, ambition and industriousness and good financial prospects. So, they turned to Census data.
“Highly educated, high-earning and in great health -- based on census data, this is how we'd describe guys in Bridgeport,” they wrote.
Not to dis Bridgeport, but we don’t agree.
Highly educated? Only 12.2 percent of people over 25 in Bridgeport have Bachelor’s degree or higher, according to the 2000 Census.
High-earning? The per capita income in 1999 was $16,306.
Honestly, a guy who makes $16,306 cannot support himself unless he lives in his mom’s basement, drives her car and eats at home. So, don’t expect a grand vacation or a meal that does not come in a paper wrapper if he’s treating.
As for health? Bridgeport was one of two cities in the state to hold a vigil this week to remember the thousands of people who die every year because they have no health insurance, the Connecticut Post reports. OK, that’s a downer, but you don’t hold a health vigil in a Mecca of healthiness.
Among the accolades that contributed to Bridgeport’s addition to the list is its 15th Smartest City ranking from Forbes.
We’re pretty sure TotalBeauty did not realize that Bridgeport is often lumped into the region with Stamford and Norwalk. Forbes based its list on the “metropolitan statistical area” including the three municipalities.
Of the people living in Bridgeport, Stamford and Norwalk, more than 39 percent have a Bachelor's degree or higher: Now, that’s more like it.
That being said, it’s always an honor just to be nominated.
