Authorities have identified the victim of Bridgeport's fifth homicide of the year as 38-year-old Joseph Myers, according to a spokesperson for the city.

Myers was shot and killed on Jefferson Street between Newfield and Seaview avenues in the city's East End, according to police.

He was found unresponsive lying across the driver's seat of his car and had been shot once, said police and Bridgeport Communications Director Brett Broesder.

Broesder said Myers had been in the area "for several hours prior to his death."

Police have not named a suspect or identified a motive for the killing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bridgeport police Det. Curet at 203-581-5236.
