Logan Costante was there for the entire incident on March 5, when a drunken driver killed his friend.

He was walking home from a Connecticut bicycle exchange in Bristol with his best friend Henry Waye when his life changed forever. A drunken driver sped up in his white pick-up truck and hit Waye, police said. Costante quickly called 911 as the driver sped away and tended to his friend, who would die just a few hours later.

On Tuesday night, 15-years-old Costante accepted the citizens commendation award from Bristol Police Commission for his actions that tragic day.

Mayor Arthur Ward said Costante's quick thinking led to the arrest of Robert Park, 44.

After the ceremony, Logan stood quietly, not saying much about the award.

"How nice it would be to have him here," and he said about Waye.

The Waye family didn't hold back their tears, words, or appreciation for Costante.

Henry Waye's grandmother, Arlene Waye stood inches away from Costante and said through her sobs, "I want to thank Logan for everything he did. Everything he tried to do. He did whatever he could. He tried his hardest. We lost him anyway."

Now, Park, an electrician and husband faces several felony charges including DUI, manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

Before the Costantes and the Wayes left Bristol City Hall for the night, Henry Waye Sr. grabbed Costante and said, "I'm very proud of you Logan. Thank you."
