State police are investigating after someone broke into the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Department and stole thousands of dollars worth of electronics and life-saving equipment.
The break-in happened at Station 2 Fire House, at 15 Little City Road, in Killingworth between Sunday night and Monday morning and the intruders stole more than $15,000 worth of electronics and equipment firefighters use to save lives, according to state police.
“I think what’s most concerning to us is it could have jeopardize our ability to safely operate on a scene, not having this equipment, had we had an incident before we noticed that it was missing,” Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company Chief Dick Bauer said. “And that’s what’s puzzling to us, the equipment that was stolen was very specific to the fire service it really has no other practical use outside of fire service application.”
Police are trying to identify the burglar or burglars and ask anyone with information to call Trooper Matthew Ward or Troop F in Westbrook at 860-399-2100.
