Burglars Posed as Water Company Employees in Newington: Police

Newington police are looking for two burglars who posed as water company employees to gain access to house occupied by two elderly people.

Police responded to a burglary in progress in the 900 block of Willard Avenue at 1:10 p.m. and the victims said that two men pushed their way into the house.

They went into several rooms, saying they needed to test the water, and took a cordless telephone away from the homeowner to prevent her from calling for help. 

The men fled in a dark gray or dark green work van. 

Police contacted the MDC and learned that no employees or sub-contractors were working in that area at the time of the burglary. 

No one was hurt during the burglary.
