Burglars Targeting Houses in Bristol

Seven houses in the Federal Hill area of Bristol have burglarized since the end of September and police believe the same person or people are behind it.

Homeowners have reported more than $48,000 worth of cash, jewelry and electronic devices stolen in burglaries on Blakeslee Street, Bellevue Avenue, High Street, Woodland Street and Belridge Road.

Police said each case happened during the day or early evening hours when residents were not home, and most were in the short window from when the residents left until they returned a short time later.

In each instance, the burglaries entered the houses through a second-floor window.

In some of the burglaries, the people responsible used a ladder that the homeowner had been left outside, police said.

Police are asking residents to secure their homes, including second floor windows, when they go out.

Authorities are urging residents to put away or secure all ladders when they are not using them.

Anyone with information that might be related to the burglaries is asked to call the Bristol Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 860-314-4561.

If you see anything suspicious, report it.
