State Republican Chairman Christopher Healy asked State Sen. Sam Caliguiri to reconsider a run for U.S. Senate in 2010.
Connecticut's Republican chairman Christopher Healy made a plea to State Senator Sam Caligiuri: please run for the House instead of the Senate.
Caliguiri has expressed interest in challenging Sen. Christopher Dodd in the 2010 election.
Healy asked Caliguiri to instead consider a run for Congress against 5th district incumbent Democrat Chris Murphy.
A Quinnipiac University Poll released last Thursday showed Caligiuri in a tie with Dodd at 42% each, with former Rep. Rob Simmons, former ambassador Tom Foley and former WWE CEO Linda McMahon all defeating Dodd in a head-on matchup.
In the same poll, Caliguiri only earned 4 percent of the vote in a state Republican primary.
Caligiuri reportedly told Healy he would consider the advice.
