DEEP Identifies Man Found After Cornwall Housatonic River Canoeing Accident

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has identified the man whose body recovered after a canoeing accident on the Housatonic River in Cornwall on Sunday.

Antonavas Morris, 47, of New Milford, died after a canoe carrying three people capsized on the river on Sunday.

State police and DEEP Environmental Conservation police initially investigated reports of a missing canoer near the covered bridge on Route 7 in Cornwall, but later said they were investigating a boating accident.

Two of the three people who were in the canoe made it safely to shore, but crews recovered Morris' body later in the afternoon.
