Douglas Trofatter was charged with risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace.

A Branford dad left his son in a moving vehicle when he fought another man in a parking lot, police said.

Douglas Trofatter, 22, of Branford was in a parking lot on West Main Street in Branford at 9 p.m. on Monday when he got into a fight with another man over a domestic dispute and they got into a fight, Branford police said.

Trofatter’s 8 month-old son was in the car and the elder Trofatter jumped out of the car, forgetting to set the brake, and fight with the man, police said.

As the men fought, the car rolled about 50 feet before hitting another car and stopping.
