1 Arrested After Car Crashes Into Southington Home

A woman was arrested after crashing her car into her estranged husband's house in Southington and into the living room when he wouldn't answer the door Tuesday night, police said.

Jennifer Luisi, 31, of Southington banged on his door repeatedly that evening, prompting him to call 911, police said. She got into her car and crashed it through the front of his 55 Paul Heights home while he was inside, according to police. Officers responded at 9:04 p.m. to investigate a report about an escalating verbal argument happening at the home.

Luisi and her estranged husband were forbidden from seeing each other at the time of the domestic dispute due to an active protective order between them. Officers suspect Luisi was intoxicated during the incident.

Only one person was inside the house during the crash and no one was hurt, but the home suffered serious damage, according to police. A building inspector and firefighters were called out to check the home and figure out if it's in danger of collapsing. They determined it was "structurally sound."

Luisi was charged with criminal violation of a protective order, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace and driving under the influence.

Luisi appeared in Bristol Superior Court on Dec. 24 after police held her overnight on a $25,000 bond. The court increased her bond to $250,000 and she is still being held.

The victim's advocate said Luisi's estranged husband expressed "severe safety concerns."

Authorities are investigating.
