Car Crashes at Shelton Gas Station

The BP gas station at 198 Leavenworth Road in Shelton is open, but they are not selling gas after a car crashed into the gas pumps around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Witnesses said the woman behind the wheel of the Mazda was driving fast and lost control before the crash. A gas station attendant said she heard a loud screech, looked outside and saw that a car had slammed into the pumps.

Police said Susan Linnane, 41, of Derby, was driving south on Leavenworth Road, hit another vehicle and a guardrail before going down an embankment and hitting a gas pump at Mont’s Mart.

According to gas station staff members, the pumps were turned off after the crash.

They should be in operation by 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. on Thursday, according to the owner of the gas station.

The car flipped over between gas pumps and was towed from the scene around 10:30 p.m.

No one was struck.

Linnane was pulled from her car. Police said she was conscious and speaking with police officers at the scene.

Police are investigating and no charges have been filed.
