Car Crashes into Porch at Stratford Home

For a third time in four years, a car has hit a home on Broadbridge Ave. in Stratford.

Around 2:30 a.m. Paulo Jorge, the owner of the home at 1725 Broadbrige Ave., woke up when his entire house began to shake.

"The whole bed moved and shook so much I thought the house was falling apart," said Jorge. "I got pretty scared. I came downstairs and there was galss all over my living room floor."

The car struck the porch, taking out a column, the front steps and part of the front door. Four years ago a car landed in the bushes. Two years ago a car hit the porch.

"I have a 5-year-old granddaughter and she sits in those chairs in front of the porch, she sits there to read," said Jorge. "This could happen at anytime of the day. It's just crazy. It happens all the time, so we're just scared."

The home sits at a T-intersection at Broadbridge Ave. and Canaan Road. Police say that when a car takes the curve too fast, they can easily lose control.

Jorge is hoping that police will put up signs warning drivers of the curve and a barrier to avoid this from happening again.

Another adult and a child were also asleep inside the home when the crash occurred. No one was injured.

The driver, 23-year-old Joseph Segui, of Ansonia, and charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right.
