Car Plows Into West Haven Laundromat, Hits Woman on Sidewalk

A woman was taken to the hospital after a car jumped the curb outside a West Haven laundromat and hit her on the sidewalk, according to the store owner.

The owner of the laundromat said a silver Volkswagen Jetta drove over the curb at 163 Boston Post Road in West Haven Friday afternoon and plowed into the laundromat there, hitting a woman who was standing outside the building.

"I turned around and [saw] the lady in shock, that she got hit by a car, and the door completely blown out," explained laundromat worker Anthony Robinson.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. Officials have not released any information on her condition.

The laundromat owner said the car continued on into the building's front door, shattering the glass. Workers were inside the building at the time but no one else was hurt.
