A man walked into Dunkin' Donuts looking for more than just coffee and donuts. He wanted cash, and when he asked the cashier to hand it over, her answer shocked him. She said, “no.”

Teresa Zito had a long line of customers to wait on Wednesday afternoon at the Dunkin Donuts on Chapel Street in New Haven when she asked the man what he wanted.

He slipped her a note. It said: “I have a gun. I’ll kill you',” Zito said.

Despite the threat, Zito stood her ground and told the man she couldn’t.  “I said I can’t,” explained Zito. “I’m sorry, but I can’t.”

After several tries, the man gave up and walked out, empty handed.

Police are still looking for the crook, but  have released photos from the surveillance video of the attempted robbery.

Police said that while the man walked out, Zito should have cooperated.

When asked why she didn’t give him the money, Zito responded, “It wasn’t mine to give.”
