Waterbury police say the are investigating criminal aspects to the fire that killed a man Wednesday.

Pedro Claudio, 32, died in the fire at 82 Fox Street early Wednesday morning. Investigators are looking into several fire code and building code violations at the home, according to Capt. Christopher Corbett. They are also trying to determine if Claudio was living in an illegal apartment, Corbett said. Some of the violations could lead to criminal charges, he said.

No one else was seriously injured in the fire.
