Lines Form for $2.99 Gas

The average price of gasoline in Connecticut is around $3.50, but a few gas stations are selling regular unleaded at $2.99 per gallon and long lines are building as people try to cash in on a deal.

According to GasBuddy.com, a Web site that finds the lowest gas prices in the United States and Canada, the cheapest gas in Connecticut is $2.99 at the Citgo stations at 407 Berlin Turnpike near Brockett Street in Newington and 109 Berlin Turnpike near Deming Road in Berlin.

Both stations were selling the gas for $3.02 this morning and people have been lining up.

At Sam's Club, at 76 Rowley Street and Berlin Turnpike in Newington, gas was selling for $3.02.

One year ago at this time, the average for a gallon of gas was $3.67.
