Mani Batchu, 29, is accused of violating a restraining order against a teen cops said he sexually assaulted.
An Illinois man accused of sexually assaulting a teen he met online violated the restraining order against him when he came back to New England for court appearance on the charges, police said.
In May, Windsor Locks Police arrested Mani Batchu, 29, who was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl from Amherst, Massachusetts, with whom he started an online dating relationship with in August 2008, police said.
He had flown from Chicago to Windsor Locks on May 1 and sexually assaulted the teen in a hotel on May 1 and May 2, police said.
Windsor Locks police arrested him by warrant on and charged him with four counts of second-degree sex assault and four counts of risk of injury to a minor. Massachusetts authorities also charged him.
Batchu’s problems grew Monday when police found him at the Hampshire Mall in Massachusetts after he had been found with the girl, the Daily Hampshire Gazette reports.
Monday night, the girl’s mother called police Monday because her daughter was missing from the mall. She said the teen might be with Batchu, who had flown from Chicago to Bradley International Airport for a court appearance on the May charges, the Gazette reports.
Amherst police took Batchu's computer from his rental vehicle and confiscated a notebook and told the Gazette they would forward information from them to Windsor Locks police.
Batchu was arraigned in Enfield Superior Court and posted $10,000 bail, according to a report in the Hartford Courant.
Batchu was charged with violating an abuse prevention order, Hadley police said.
