A woman in Clinton nearly broke a record, for being drunk, police said.
Clinton police told the New Haven Register they stopped Kim Marshall's car on Saturday and she had a blood alcohol level of 0.406 percent.
That is more than five times the legal limit for driving and the second highest blood alcohol content ever recorded by Clinton Police.
Marshall's car was lurching violently toward a group of people at a church fair on Main Street, police told the Register.
Officers say she never heard their siren and they were only able to stop her by running up to the car window. Inside the car, police found open containers of beer and prescription drugs in her purse, police said.
Marshall could not recite the alphabet past the letter "C" or stand without help, cops said.
A manager at a McDonald's also told The Register that Marshall nearly drove into the building and stuck her foot out the window while she was at the drive-thru.
Marshall has been charged with driving while intoxicated, drinking while driving, operating a car with a suspended license, and possession of narcotics.
Police also took her to Middlesex Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.
