Cobblestone Thief Strikes in Glastonbury

Cobblestones have disappeared from Manchester Road and Hebron Avenue.

Glastonbury police are trying to solve a cobblestone caper.

On April 14, cobblestones disappeared from a driveway in the 1800 block of Manchester Road.

On Sunday, thieves struck again, according to the Glastonbury police Facebook page.

Cobblestones disappeared not only from the same driveway, but also from Candlewick Kennels on Hebron Avenue.

The stolen stones are worth several hundred dollars, police said.

Police warn any resident with a driveway lined with stones to be vigilant about activity in the area.

Glastonbury police ask people to call if they or any neighbors are suddenly remodeling with cobblestones or saw anything that could help police investigate.

There do not seem to be many reports of cobblestone theft, but the Evening News in New York decades ago ran the headline "Who's Stealing the Street?"

In 1972, thieves stole half of the cobblestones of a street in Newburgh, New York.
