A ticket exchange website has filed a lawsuit against the Connecticut Better Business Bureau, accusing it of deceptive business ratings.

TicketNetwork Inc, said Wednesday it filed the suit in Rockville Superior Court.

The lawsuit claims the BBB operates a "pay to play" ratings system that favors businesses that pay fees for memberships, and receive better ratings than businesses that do not pay to join.

BBB spokesperson Howard Schwartz said the accusation is not true. He said many businesses that have an "A" rating are non-accredited businesses. Schwartz said even a company that recently paid to join may not qualify for an "A" rating until it establishes a reputation.

TicketNetwork wants the Better Business Bureau to stop the "pay to play" practice and to pay the costs of the company's lawsuit.
