If a New Canaan man had paid $5 and kept his hands to himself, he would not be in this situation, according to a police release.

A 21-year-old who cops said was trying to avoid paying $5 to get into the Alive @ Five outdoor concert Thursday night was arrested, accused of assaulting  a cop.

A cop saw Ryan Casey, 21, of New Canaan, climbing over a fence to get in, rather than enter through the main gate and confronted him, police said.

He was not only trying to get in for free, but he also looked drunk, cops said. He pushed the officer in the chest and a struggle began. An EMS paramedic came to the officer’s aid and Casey was subdued and taken into custody.

No injuries were reported. He was held on a $10,000 bond and is due in court on July 16.
