A Connecticut man was critically injured in a fall at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey after the Redskins/Giants game Sunday afternoon.

According to police, David Chupcavich, Jr., of Orange, fell more than 20 feet from an escalator as he exited the stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey around 4 p.m. He landed on a metal stage, police said.

Chupcavich, 42, was airlifted to Hackensack University Hospital and was in critical condition Sunday night. The accident is under investigation, according to police.

More than 80,000 fans attended the game in which the Giants beat the Redskins 27-23.

A man who answered the door at Chupcavich's home in Orange identified himself as Chupcavich's father-in-law. He said his daughter, Chupcavich's wife, was at the hospital in New Jersey, but he didn't have any details on the extent of his son-in-law's injuries.
