Connecticut Hopes for Glimpse of Rocket Blast

People in the Connecticut region may be able to get a glimpse of NASA's rocket launch Monday night.

NASA and its partner Orbital ATK are scheduled to launch the unmanned Cygnus cargo ship Monday at 7:40 p.m. The aircraft was originally scheduled to launch Sunday night, but that was postponed.

According to NASA, the spacecraft will be carrying more than 5,000 pounds of science supplies and equipment to the ISS space station.

If the skies are clear enough, the bright plume should be visible to many residents along the East Coast, according to Space.com. A region visibility map for Orbital ATK shows the Connecticut region should be able to see the rocket about 150 seconds after launch if you look south or southeast.
