Take a 13-pound bacon cheeseburger, 45 minutes and two brave participants and what you get is one colossal stomachache.

Sara J’s Restaurant in Wallingford (7 Ward St.) hosted a burger-eating contest of enormous proportions Friday night to celebrate their new extended hours.

Two previously selected applicants had 45 minutes to take on their halves of the seven-pound meat patty with all the fixings.

The seven-pound patty itself was topped with two pounds of cheddar cheese and one pound of bacon, all covered lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard.

Applicants for the challenge had to be 18 or older and sign their stomachs away in a waiver.

Up for grabs was a spot on the Sara J’s Wall of Fame, a $10 gift certificate to the restaurant and a “I ate my half” T-shirt.

Unfortunately, neither contestant succeeded.
