It took 50 seconds for someone to drive a minivan through a wall and steal an ATM, cash and all, early Wednesday morning.

Police have the van, but no suspect, and said the speedy thieves behind the brazen theft might be responsible for at least five smash-and-grabs across the state.

Around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, someone moved a woodpile from the front of Mobil Convenience Store at 492 Middlebury Road in Middlebury, crashed through the wall, knocked the ATM off the frame and stole it.

The van used had been stolen from a home in Waterbury between Nov. 9 and Nov. 10. On Thursday night, police found it on 500 Chase Parkway in Waterbury. It had some damage and a flat tire.

Police towed it back to the Middlebury Police Department and are investigating.
